The Anatomy of an Anna

What could be a greater start to my blog than a piece about myself? :p

I wrote this piece for my first ever workshop in creative writing. And even if I love writing, I was still very scared and intimidated to let my other classmates read this.

Some of my blockmates were talking about their ideas right after the professor gave her instructions. I was just staring out of the window, daydreaming about when and where my next vacation would be. :)) Some of my blockmates talked about using Wikipedia as their guide, some wanted to use a recipe book. Some were thinking of doing a photo essay-cum-vignettes with photos. I had NO IDEA what to do.

When I got home, I had to tutor my little brother. And lo and behold! The answer was right under my nose. :)) I decided to use his Science textbook as my guide.

So here it is, read more after the jump. :p
I know it needs improvement, so I'm open to all your comments! :)

Anna's Anatomy

In this text, we will be examining the different ways to distinguish an Anna.

1. THE SUNLIGHT PROCESS

a. Beach-goer
When an Anna is put under the sun, she transforms into a sun-kissed goddess scorched organism. She does not mind being so because she loves her heart beats faster her heart reaches tachycard-ic proportions when exposed under the sun. This is why an Anna can also be called a beach-goer

Beach-going is a systematic process of lying down all day on a beach. It can also be a methodical practice of participating in a range of water sports and other beach-related activities. An Anna is not restricted to just one, she participates in both. Here are other ways in which an Anna's heart can undangerously reach tachycard-ic proportions:

a.1. When she feels the white powdery sand crumbling under her phalanges and the gentle wind on her face region
a.2. When she sees:
  1. the multitude of white puka shells and corals that are scattered on the shore
  2. her grandfather filtering sand and various brown, white, and pink shells into empty Viva mineral water bottles
  3. her cousins constructing sand castles, complete with forts, windows (made out of tanzans), and flags carefully fashioned out of sticks and empty candy wrappers
  4. her brothers and cousins, armed with orange pails and shovels, scouring through the short seaweeds and small puddles while they are sorting through a diverse assortment of starfish - from the big macho red orange ones Protoreaster nodosus to the small dainty black colored ones Astropecten polyacanthus
a.3. When she hears her brothers and cousins shouting and laughing as they throw sandballs around
a.4. When she smells the sodium chloride combined with the SPF 45 Coppertone sun block
a.5. When she tastes grilled liempo S. domesticus, fresh bangus Chanos chanos, tilapia Oreochromis mossambicus and lato Caulerpa lentillifera.

2. MOVEMENT AND MOTION

We found out from the previous section about what happens to an Anna when put under the sun, let us now find out what happens to an Anna when placed high up in the atmosphere.

b. Traveler
When an Anna is placed on an airplane, her heart races up to 100bpm. In this stage, an Anna becomes a traveler. She is characterized by her ever dependable Samsonite luggage and her comfortable but chic Keds cell membrane and flagella.

Traveling is a systematic way of going from one place to another, not only endemically, but extrinsically. It is also a precise process of discovering a new culture environment. An Anna becomes over ecstatic:
b.1. when she feels the wheels phalanges of an airplane is being extracted and the roar of the engine as it pulls to a stop;
b.2. when she sees her green passport with multi-colored immigration stamps
b.3. when she hears the reverberation of natives talking in different languages
b.4. when she smells the atmosphere of the new atmosphere she's in - sweet and smoky, clean and refreshing
b.5. when she tastes new nourishment - authentic sushi, takoyaki, ramen, chicken rice, curry, weasel coffee, and a lot more
b.6. when she recalls:
       1. Japan's mysterious, surreal, and inexplicable atmosphere
           1.1 Sweaters;
           1.2 Lanterns and sakura cherry blossoms Prunus serrulata;
           1.3 Disneyland, Universal Studios, Mount Fuji
       2. Thailand's rustic and busy environment
           1.1 Shopping;
           1.2 Shopping;
           1.3 and more shopping!
       3. Singapore's strict, clean, and expensive nature
           1.1 Rules;
           1.2 Rules;
           1.3 and more rules! and more designer apparel!
       4. Hanoi's noisy and road-scary milieu
           1.1 Poop? Poop? Poop! Weasel Coffee;
           1.2 Temple of Literature, motorcycles, Cha Ca La Vong, motorcycles, Halong Bay;
           1.3 Oh, and motorcycles
       5. Hong Kong's confusing but amusing network
           1.1 Chinese food galore
           1.2 Shopping
           1.3 and more shopping!

Note: An Anna does not stop being a traveler as there are infinite environments and atmospheres to discover.
